GalleryVault (“we”, “our”, “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the GalleryVault mobile application (“App”) collects, uses, and protects user data.

This policy is designed to comply with Google Play policies, GDPR, Children’s Online Privacy Protection requirements, and advertising policies including Google Mobile Ads (AdMob).

1. Overview

GalleryVault is a photo and video gallery management app that allows users to view, organize, and manage media stored locally on their device.

We do not sell personal data.

2. Information We Collect

GalleryVault is designed to work primarily offline and does not collect personal information directly.

However, the app may access certain data on your device to provide core features.

2.1 Media Files (Required Functionality)

The app requests the following permissions:

  • READ_MEDIA_IMAGES
  • READ_MEDIA_VIDEO
  • READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED
  • READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android ≤ 12)
  • ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION

These permissions allow the app to:

  • Display photos and videos stored on your device
  • Organize media into albums
  • Show metadata such as date/location (if available)

👉 Important:
All media scanning happens locally on your device.
Your photos/videos are never uploaded to our servers.

2.2 Biometric Authentication

Permission used:

  • USE_BIOMETRIC

This allows optional device biometric lock (fingerprint/face unlock) to protect private albums.

Biometric data is handled only by the Android system.
We never access or store biometric information.

3. Advertising (AdMob)

GalleryVault displays ads using Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob).

AdMob may automatically collect:

  • Advertising ID
  • Device information
  • Approximate location
  • App interactions
  • Crash & performance data

This data is used to:

  • Show relevant ads
  • Prevent fraud
  • Improve ad performance

Users can opt out of personalized ads via:
Settings → Google → Ads → “Delete advertising ID”

4. How We Use Information

We use data only to:

  • Display and manage your media locally
  • Protect private albums using device security
  • Show ads to support free app usage
  • Improve app stability and performance

We do not:

  • Sell personal data
  • Share media files
  • Track users across apps (except AdMob standard ads)

5. Data Storage & Security

  • Media files stay on your device
  • No cloud backup by default
  • No account required
  • No server storage of personal content

We implement industry-standard security practices.

6. Children’s Privacy (Google Play Families Policy)

GalleryVault is not directed to children under 13.

The app:

  • Does not knowingly collect personal data from children
  • Displays family-safe ads only
  • Does not include:
    • Gambling
    • Adult content
    • Dating content
    • Harmful content

If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it immediately.

7. GDPR (European Users)

If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have rights to:

  • Access your data
  • Request deletion
  • Restrict processing
  • Object to personalized ads

Because GalleryVault stores data locally, you can delete all data anytime by uninstalling the app.

For ad consent, users in the EEA may see a consent form for personalized ads.

9. Data Retention

We do not store user data on our servers.

AdMob may retain advertising data according to Google’s policies.

10. User Control

You can:

  • Revoke permissions anytime in device settings
  • Disable ads personalization in Google settings
  • Clear app data or uninstall the app

Uninstalling the app removes all local app data.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when required by law or Play policies.
Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date.
